About
Alexis D. Johnson
Alexis D. Johnson is a fantasy author whose books range from adventurous noblebright, to dark epic with a spark of hope. She lives a Hobbitish life with her husband tending her peach tree and menagerie of creatures in the Texas desert, writing on anything from napkins and notebooks, to computers and typewriters. No matter the world she finds herself in, she firmly believes no story is complete without a heady mixture of gutsy underdogs riddled with flaws and strengths, delicious sibling banter, and mythical creatures.
She pours her soul into her heroes and heroines, turning fears, struggles, and triumphs into reflections of ourselves. Her aim is to sweep you away into richly woven new worlds with characters you'll never forget.
Her focus presently is working on book two of The Siren Wars series which she co-authors with her husband, B.A. Johnson. Once she is done weaving sirens inspired by Greek mythology into this dark epic sequel, she plans to complete the final installment of her young adult dragon rider series, The Tainted Scales.
You can find her up-and-coming short story, Paid in Salt and Scale, featured in the illustrated hardcover anthology Reign of Dragons alongside 17 other dragon authors, including NYT bestselling author Todd McCaffrey (who has contributed to Anne McCaffrey's beloved Dragon Riders of Pern series), Robert Zangari, Jasmine Young, J.D.L. Rosell, Andy Peloquin, and USA Today bestselling author Eileen Mueller, to name a few. Paid in Salt and Scale is a thrilling short story full of sea dragons, gunpowder, and privateers. Its heartwarming brother-sister duo, blood-pounding escapades, and dragon-drenched world are right in vein with The Tainted Scales series. Readers often describe this series as The Hunger Games meets How to Train Your Dragon and A Knight’s Tale.
She's been most inspired by Eragon, How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, and The Grishaverse, to name a few.
